Friday Bus Tour Page 2

I thought that tree was cool, there were so many great trees and flowers it was impossible to take pictures of everything but I tried. Snorkeling was a bit cold so I didn't really go in much. Mom had a blast though. I did get to see some fish though, cousin Mark was feeding them a special bread to make them come in closer.

We passed by Sunset beach and stopped here at the Banzai Pipeline beach, at Waimea Bay. This is where they have alot of the big wave surfing championships. The whole area looked like this, lots of nice sand, lots of open area for waves to form, no rocks to get beaten up on and serious pipelines. It was pretty low that day but we did see a few nice ones start to come in as we were leaving. There were lots of people there to watch the surfers, and lots of surfers. That's just a few of them. You can see me in the middle pic, I'm on the left side with the purple and red sarong around my waist, beside the guy in red.

This is Hale'iwa beach, a place where lots of seaweed comes up and lots of green sea turtles come to feed and rest. We actually got to see a bunch there that day, very, very cool!!!!! Mom got the pics, I was getting video so she only got the one that she could see. There were 2 others on the beach and 2 at the water's edge. I got up close and personal with the one, no touching was allowed, and I wouldn't ever anyway, I just got a nice close-up of his face, sleeping and then looking at me. If they come there I'm sure they're used to it, being stars and all, it's hard work for a turtle. There's me again, thanks for the pics of me mom!!!

Good close up mom!! I noticed each turtle had a number carved into their shell, a way to keep track of them I guessed. The park rangers do patrol the area and will fine you big bucks if they see you touch one or do anything to them. They are really protected as is all the wildlife on the islands. Next, we stopped for lunch in a nice small town and I had some great pizza and onion rings, mom had a sandwich. It was a much needed break and seemed like a cool place to visit longer. Maybe next time.

Next up on the tour, the Dole Pineapple plantation. We went through their maze, it's the worlds largest maze. Gotta admit it was fun for a bit then got tiring. Poor mom's back was hurting, I was hot and tired. How early did we get up??? Oh, I'm holding the card you get when you start the maze. They punch you in and you have to find 6 boxes and draw the symbol from the box on your card and then punch out when you're done and if you get a certain time you get something. We didn't finish it. Not too worried about it. After that we went to the gift shop and bought some stuff.

After that we drove down the road to see their little educational pineapple field. It showed all kinds of pineapples in different stages of growth. I never knew there were that many, aren't they cute??? There were lots more, I'm just trying to save space. After this we drove through some other areas but didn't stop. He dropped us off at the hotel and I was glad to get some dinner and not have to drive anywhere anymore.

At our hotel every night they have a small Hawaiian show at sunset. Mom and I ate dinner and then watched the show. It was a spectacular sunset, again, so many pictures, not enough space, but you get the gist.

Here's mom and I at the show, it was cool the way they had the torches lit every night. Alot of the hotels did that we noticed. We relaxed and enjoyed the warm evening breeze, sunset, music, and each other.

Ok, that's smoke that got in the shot, but it looks kind of cool, what'd'ya think?
