Now we're up near the start of the stairs to the top of the pyramid. This is a view of the carvings on the right side. I zoomed in so you could see the end better. The first pic is of the mound in front of it.

A close up and a bit father back. We were told that the rock above it where the tree is sticking out is starting to crumble so they'll be working to fix that area soon.

Here's a picture of the sign in front of the area. It shows it in better detail. Another close up of an interesting section. It looks like there's a dog's head on top of a human head with no eyes.

A view from the middle. These are the steps to the top. They're very narrow and steep and only one group of people are allowed up at a time.

Luckily at the top of the steps there's a small room that's dark, cooler and really neat. We chilled a bit and played with the camera.

Views from the top.

Me.

Another set of ruins and a view of the other people on top with me.

My friend took this great shot for me. Yeah, it was getting pretty hot and I had rolled up my top and rolled down my shorts. Well, I rolled my shirt back down for the pic but it was really hot.

This is the left side. It has more carvings and steps that lead up to it so you can get up close and personal with them.

Panoramic, kind of.

I went up to offer myself to the gods.

I'm not sure they were listening. :) This next shot is the ball field.

They'd play their games that weren't anything to sneeze at. Games were usually very violent and sometimes to the death. Sometimes the rulers would play for rulership of the lands and the looser lost more than just their kingdom. The lumps in the trees are terminte mounds. Strange to see them in trees and not growing on the gound into mighty castles, but I guess they are Belizian termites, so they're different.
There's more so let's go to Page 3...
